Day 2 – Amman, Seven Sleeper cave & Desert Castles:

Today you will uncover the fascinating story behind the Seven Sleeper cave, which sits just 10 kilometers outside of Amman near the village of Al Raqim. The attraction is also known as ‘Kahif Al Raqim’ and is a popular site as it has been mentioned in the Holy Quran. According to the Sura named Al Kahf, a group of pious youths took refuge in the cave after being persecuted by the despotic rule of the Trajan. To preserve them, God put them to sleep and when they awoke 309 solar years later, they believed they had only been asleep for a day.  Next, you will be taken to the eastern desert of Jordan to visit the desert castles, which were built between the 7th century and 8th century AD, under the caliphs of the Umayyad dynasty. Their fine mosaics, frescoes, and stone carvings are beautiful examples of early Islamic art and architecture. Next you will visit Qasr Amra, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before heading to castles – Qasr Al Kharrana and Qasr Al Azraq. You are bound to be impressed by Qasr al-Azraq, which was constructed out of black basalt stone, and was originally three storeys high. Some paving stones in the main entrance have small indentations, carved by former gatekeepers who played a board game using pebbles to pass the time. By the courtyard entrance, look for the carvings of animals and various inscriptions.  Finally, you will head back to Amman for dinner and a well-earned rest.

Day 3 – Amman & Petra visit:

Feast on a hearty breakfast to prepare for a busy day of sightseeing. Today you will have a wonderful chance to marvel at the beauty of the Red Rose City of Petra. You will spend time exploring its many caves and tombs. You will also have the chance to walk through the Siq and be astounded at the magnificent Treasury, the entrance guarding the ancient Nabatean city, now one of the modern seven wonders of the world. Be sure to pull out your camera and snap an obligatory holiday selfie. Finally, you will be driven back to Amman for a delicious dinner and a good night’s sleep.

Day 4-  Amman, Allenby Bridge, Mount of Olives, Al-Aqsa & Haram Al-Sharif:

Today will be etched in your mind forever as you travel to the Holy Land and see landmarks you have only read about so far. Your day will start early, when you will be picked up from your hotel in Amman and transferred to Allenby Bridge to cross the border into Israel.  You will drive past the Mount of Olives for a wonderful view of Jerusalem. Here you will have a chance to visit Suleiman Al-Farsi and Rabah Al-Adawi. Next you will finally see landmarks you’ve read about for years – Haram Al-Sharif and Al Aqsa Mosque which is the second oldest mosque in Islam after the Ka’ba in Mecca. It is also the third in holiness and importance after the mosques in Mecca and Medina. You will have a chance to pray in Al-Aqsa Mosque before moving onto the Dome of the Rock. This landmark is an enduring symbol of the city and undoubtedly one of the most photographed buildings on Earth. As its name suggests, the dome covers a slab of stone sacred to both the Muslim and Jewish faiths. According to Jewish tradition, it was here that Prophet Abraham prepared to sacrifice his son. Islamic tradition has the Prophet Mohammed ascending to heaven from this spot.  Next, you will continue to Mount Zion and see the Tomb of Nebi Daoud. Finally, check into your hotel in Jerusalem and feast on a delicious dinner before enjoying a well-earned rest.

Day 5- Bethlehem, Burak Suleiman, Al-Khadr & Khalil Al-Rahman:

This morning you will cross into the West Bank and stop at the Separation Wall before arriving at Bethlehem to see the birth place of Jesus, also known as ‘Nebi Issa’. You will have a chance to pray in the Masjid Omar, which is the oldest and only mosque in the old city of Bethlehem. It is located in Manger Square, near the Church of the Nativity. Learn how the mosque was named after Omar ibn al-Khattab who was the second Caliph. Having conquered Jerusalem, Omar had traveled to Bethlehem in 637 CE to issue a law that would guarantee respect for the shrine and safety for Christians and clergy. Only four years after the death of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, Omar reportedly prayed at the location of the mosque.

Next you will continue to Burak Suleiman and then to Al-Khadr, before visiting Khalil Al-Rahman to pray at the Mosque where Prophet Abraham, also known as Ibrahim, and his family are buried. You will also have a chance to see the Oak of Mamre – which is an ancient tree. It is said to mark the place where Abraham entertained the three angels, while some believe it is where Abraham pitched his tent. Finally enjoy a delicious dinner and an overnight at your hotel in Jerusalem.

Day 6 – Jerusalem & Allenby bridge:

Today will be etched in your mind forever as you pay an emotional visit Nebi Mousa, which is a desert sanctuary of Prophet Moses. It is also said to be where he is buried. Its white domed roof has been witness to centuries of pilgrimage. Next you will head to onto Jericho, the oldest city in the world, before you are transferred to Allenby Bridge, and cross back into Jordan. From here you will   visit Dead Sea which is a salt lake bordered by Jordan, Israel and Palestine. The water has a density of 1.24 kg, which makes swimming feel similar to floating. Next you will visit Nabi Shoaib, then continue to the Cave of the Seven Sleepers with a mosque fitting the description of the Holy Quran. Finally, you arrive back to your hotel in Amman where you will enjoy dinner and a good night’s sleep.

Day 7 – Departure:

Enjoy the final breakfast of your holiday. Depending upon the time of your flight, we can arrange optional tours such as Amman City Tour. Finally, you will be transferred to Queen Alia International Airport for your flight back to the UK. As you leave, your mind will be buzzing with the adventures you have experienced.
