On this holiday you will experience the bubbling roar of a mud volcano, the sheer beauty of a canyon as well as more monasteries and monuments than you can shake a stick at. Even the journeys from one city to another are spellbinding and filled with quaint villages, stunning mountains and farmers herding their flock. You will adore spending 14 magical days travelling through Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The package includes an English-speaking guide, breakfast, accommodation, sightseeing tours and transfers.

Itinerary:

Day 1 – Arrival day
Gear up for an amazing holiday when you arrive at the airport. Here you will be welcomed by our friendly representative who will transfer you to a hotel in Yerevan. See for yourself how this is a city full of contradictions where expensive cars share the roads with vehicles that are so old that they should be in a museum collections. Old-fashioned teahouses sit next to chic European-style wine bars; and street fashions range from hipster to babushka with many weird and wonderful variations in between.

Day 2 -Yerevan tour
Start the day with a delicious breakfast before embarking on a tour of Yerevan. Today you will visit Mother Armenia monument and get a spectacular view of Mount Ararat with panorama of central Yerevan. You will also explore the Matenadaran Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, the Cascade Complex, Opera House, as well as Northern Avenue and Republic Square. Lastly, you will pay homage at the Armenian Genocide Memorial which sits on a hill. Then head back to your hotel or venture out to explore the nightlife independently.

Day 3 – Echmiadzin and Zvartnots
Gear up to unlock the beauty of Echmiadzin. Here you will visit the spiritual and administrative center of the Armenian Apostolic Church, as well as exploring the churches of St. Hripsime and St. Gayane. There will also be a chance to explore  the Main Cathedral of Echmiadzin and attend the Holy Liturgy if you travel here on a Sunday.  Be wowed as you learn that the cathedral was built on the very spot that Christian’s believe Grigor Luysavorich dreamt Jesus descended from heaven to show him where he wanted the church to be built. On your journey back, you will visit ruins of the 7th century Zvartnots Temple, before enjoying a tour of “Vernissage” and fruit market “Shouka” to buy souvenirs and gifts. Finally relax at your hotel in Yerevan.

Day 4 – KhorVirap and Noravank
Start the day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel, before you will be driven to Khor Virap Monastery, which rests on top of a little hill in an otherwise very flat Ararat Valley. From here Mount Ararat also reveals its breathtaking size and splendour. You will then drive to the masterpiece of medieval Armenian architecture –  the 14th century Noravank Monastery. Discover how in the 13th–14th centuries,  the monastery became a residence of Syunik’s bishops and, consequently,  a major religious centre. You will then stopover for wine tasting at the local wine factory in Areni. Finally return to Yerevan for a well earned rest.

Day 5 – Garni, Geghard and Sevan
After a mouth watering breakfast you will check out from your hotel, and be driven to the oldest surviving building on the territory of Armenia –  the 1st century Garni Pagan Temple. Visit the 13th century Cave Monastery of Geghard, before continuing to Lake Sevan and exploring Monastery of Sevanavank. Next you will travel to Dilijan, a resort town renowned for its charming nature and extraordinary architecture. Here, you will wander through the historical district of Old Dilijan to relax and unwind. It is definitely the destination where you can take lots of picturesque holiday selfie to post online. Finally, you will travel to  Alaverdi to explore the Haghpat Monastery, before being driven to Tbilisi for check in to your  hotel.

Day  6 – Military Georgian Road across the Caucasus 
This morning you will visit Ananuri Fortress which is a classic example of beautiful old Georgian architecture. It’s stunning location is enhanced by the Zhinvali Reservoir spreading out below. Inside the fortress there are two 17th-century churches, the larger of which, the Assumption Church, is covered with wonderful stone carving, including a large cross on every wall. Make sure your camera is charged to take wonderful photos that you will cherish for years to come. Next you will travel to the alpine ski resort Gudauri after driving through the Cross Pass. You will have a chance to walk up to Gergeti Trinity Church with the beautiful views of Kazbegi mountain peak and the village. Finally return to Tbilisi for a good night’s sleep.

Day 7 – Mtskheta and Gori 
Today you will peel back the fascinating treasures of Mtskheta. You will learn how it has been Georgia’s spiritual heart since Christianity was established here and holds a near-mystical significance in Georgian culture. With an alluring setting where the Mtkvari and Aragvi Rivers meet, Mtskheta makes an easy and enjoyable day trip. You too,  will visit it’s popular landmarks including  the historical and architectural complex of Jvari, Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, and Samtavro Convent. Next you will travel to Uplistsikhe, and visit a museum in Gori – which has been sinuously linked to Stalin because this is where he was born and spent his childhood.

Day 8 – Kutaisi tour
Experience the fascinating layers of Georgia’s second largest city Kutaisi. Discover how Kutaisi has been revitalised after years of post-Soviet decline. Kutaisi is built around the Rioni River, with the city centre, first developed in the 17th century, on its left bank. Today you will enjoy an excursion in the old town. You will visit Bagrati Temple, which is a masterpiece of medieval architecture, as well as the historic and architectural complex of Gelati and Motsameta monastery. Finally you will check into your hotel in Kutaisi and unwind.

Day 9 – Okatse Canyons
Prepare to be memorised by Georgia’s charms when you visit the Okatse Canyons in Village Gordi. Set inside  a deep and narrow ravine,  Okatse Canyon is truly one of the most magnificent and amazing places in Georgia. With breath-taking views it is practically untouched by humans, leaving you feeling pleasantly cut off as you take in its authentic beauty. Along the canyon, you will be amazed at the several waterfalls cascading down rocks. After a blissful day, you will drive back to your hotel in Tbilisi. You can relax inside the hotel or venture out to explore the night life independently.

Day 10 – Sighnaghi, Lagodekhi (border with Azerbaijan), Sheki, &Azerbaijan
Make sure you feast on a hearty breakfast to prepare for a busy day of travel. Today you will travel to the border of  Azerbaijan. You will first drive to Sighnaghi old town and Bodbe nunnery, and then continue to Lagodekhi. Then you will cross the border to Azerbaijan. Once you cross the border you will be transfer to Sheki, for check into your hotel. Sheki is surrounded by snowy peaks of the Greater Caucasus  and is a sight to behold.  Make sure you take an obligatory holiday selfie here – one you will treasure for years to come.

Day 11 –  Sheki, Shamakha & Baku
Today, you will go on a sightseeing tour of Sheki. Your adventure will start with a visit to the local medieval fortress, Sheki Khans’ palace, local museum of history, and local handicrafts workshop. You will also have a chance to see a panoramic view of the town. You will then travel to Baku through the Muganly passing. Here you will have photo stops on the most beautiful places on the mountains. On the way, you will visit Diri Baba Mausoleum in Maraza Village, historical mosque Juma and mausoleum of Seven Domes “Yeddi Gumbez” in Shamakha. Then you will arrive in Baku for check in at your hotel. Finally put your feet up and relax.

Day  12 – Baku & Absheron Peninsula
Gear up for a busy day sightseeing across Baku. You will first visit Memory Alley – “Shehidler Khiyabany” –  for a panoramic view of Baku city from the park. Next you will visit Medieval Fortress of Old Baku – Icheri Sheher, Maiden Tower, the Complex of Shirvan Shahs’ Palace as well as  Medieval Caravan Saray. You will also explore Medieval Markets Square, and a handmade carpet workshop. Next you will stop to enjoy a lunch break, before visiting Yanardag and  Temple of Fire Worshippers – Ateshgah.

Day 13 – Gobustan mud volcanoes
This morning you will check out from hotel and visit Gobustan’s  mud volcanoes. Be amazed as you see these rare volcano spit out cold gooey mud. They are located in the middle of an oily desert and vary in size and shape. Their surface is cracked from the heat and occasionally makes oozing, bubbling or squeaking noises. After the  excursion, you will be transferred to Baku airport. In case of departure from Tbilisi airport, you will be transferred a to railway station for a night train to Georgia at 20:30.

Day 14 – Departure
Take time to enjoy the final breakfast of your holiday. You will have some free time to enjoy as you wish, before a representative at train station will transfer you directly to Tbilisi airport for departure. As you leave, your mind will be filled with the amazing memories you have just created.
