You will spend 12 days exploring museums, monasteries, old squares, charming markets, wine tasting vineyard, and historical landmarks. Your journey will start in Georgia’s Tbilisi, and then you will travel through Kakheti, Mtskheta, Gori, Kutaisi, and Okatse Canyons. Next you will venture inside Azerbaijan’s  Sheki, Baku & Absheron Peninsula as well as Gobustan to witness the famous mud volcanoes. The package includes an English-speaking guide, breakfast, accommodation, sightseeing tours and transfers.

Day 1 – Arrival
Take your seat on an amazing journey through Georgia, which will start today. As soon as you land at the airport, you will be welcomed by our friendly representative who will transfer you to a hotel in Tbilisi. Be wowed by Tbilisi’s dramatic setting inside the deep valley of the swift Mtkvari River. Admire the picturesque architecture, an ever-lively arts and cultural scene, and the welcoming Georgian lifestyle.

Day 2 – Tbilisi
Fuel up on a hearty breakfast, for a busy day of sightseeing. Today you will enjoy a cultural feast when you enjoy a jam packed day exploring Tbilisi. You will start with a visit to Sameba Cathedral, which was built in 2004, and is called the symbol of new Georgia. You will be in awe as you see this landmark arise magnificently on the hill of the St. Ilya, on the left bank of the Kura River. You will also explore Metekhi Church and the bridge, before continuing to the Abanotubani district which is famous for its sulphur baths. You will then ride on a cable car to visit Narikala Fortress.  Learn how most of the walls were built in the 8th century by the Arab emirs, whose palace was inside the fortress. You will then be rewarded with superb views over Tbilisi from the top of the fortress. There will be a chance to walk along Shardeni Street with lots of souvenirs and gift shops – making it an ideal spot to do a bit of holiday shopping. Next you will explore Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Basilica, Freedom Square, and Rustaveli Avenue. Then you will tour the parliament buildings and Kashveti Church. Finally you can return back to your hotel for a well earned rest or explore the nightlife independently.

Day 3 – Kakheti
Today you will drive to the fortified city of Sighnaghi and visit Bodbe Monastery. You will also explore the Chavchavadze Museum in Tsinandali. After a short walk through Telavi Food Market where delicious aromas fill the air, you will visit the famous Alaverdi Cathedral, Ikalto Academy and Shuamta Monastery Complex. Next you will head back to your Tbilisi hotel by driving through the Gombori pass. The pass peaks at 1620 meters above sea level and is a spectacular road and is filled with small idyllic villages, magnificent views of Alazani Valley and Caucasus Mountains, sheep flocks, and ancient forests. It is a wonderful way to end a memorable day.

Day 4 – Military Georgian Road across the Caucasus
Prepare to be in awe of the Ananuri Fortress which is a classic example of beautiful old Georgian architecture. During your trip, you will be wowed by its picturesque location which is enhanced by the Zhinvali Reservoir spreading out below. Inside the fortress there are two 17th-century churches, the larger of which, the Assumption Church, is covered with wonderful stone carving, including a large cross on every wall. Make sure your camera is charged to take wonderful photos that you will cherish for years to come. Next you will travel to the alpine ski resort Gudauri after driving through the Cross Pass. You will have a chance to walk up to Gergeti Trinity Church with the beautiful views of Kazbegi mountain peak and the village. Finally return to Tbilisi for a good night’s sleep.

Day 5 – Mtskheta and Gori
Today you will set off on an amazing journey to discover first hand why Mtskheta has been Georgia’s spiritual heart since Christianity was established here. You will learn why it holds a near-mystical significance in Georgian culture when you explore it alluring setting where the Mtkvari and Aragvi Rivers meet. You will visit its popular landmarks including the historical and architectural complex of Jvari, Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, and Samtavro Convent. Next you will travel to Uplistsikhe, and visit Museum in Gori . The museum is filled with artefacts on Stalin because this is where he was born and spent his childhood. Finally you will return to Tbilisi for a well earned rest.

Day 6 – Kutaisi
Peel back the fascinating layers of Kutaisi and discover how it has been revitalised after years of post-Soviet decline. Today you will adore  exploring Kutaisi which is built around the Rioni River, with the city centre, first developed in the 17th century, on its left bank. After you check out from your Tbilisi hotel, you will drive to Georgia’s second large city –  Kutais. Today you will enjoy an excursion in the old Town. You will visit Bagrati Temple, which is a masterpiece of medieval architecture, as well as the historic and architectural complex of Gelati and Motsameta monastery. Finally you will check into your hotel in Kutaisi. Here you will enjoy dinner before you have a well earned rest.

Day 7- Okatse Canyons
Relish in the splendour of mother nature today as you will be dazzled by the Okatse Canyons. Set in Gordi inside a deep and narrow ravine, Okatse Canyon is truly one of the most magnificent and amazing places in Georgia. With breath-taking views it is practically untouched by humans, leaving you feeling pleasantly cut off as you take in its authentic beauty. Along the canyon, you will be amazed at the several waterfalls cascading down rocks. After a blissful day, drive back to your hotel for a well earned rest.

Day 8 – Lagodekhi (border with Azerbaijan) Sheki
Today you will travel to the border of  Azerbaijan. Once you cross the border you will be transfer to Sheki, for check into your hotel. Sheki is surrounded by snowy peaks of the Greater Caucasus  and is a sight to behold.  Make sure you take an obligatory holiday selfie here – one you will treasure for years to come.

Day 9 – Sheki, Shamakha & Baku
Today, you will go on a sightseeing tour of Sheki. Your adventure will start with a visit to the local medieval fortress, Sheki Khans’ palace, local museum of history, and local handicrafts workshop. You will also have a chance to see a panoramic view of the town. You will then travel to Baku through the Muganly passing. Here you will have photo stops on the most beautiful places on the mountains. On the way, you will visit Diri Baba Mausoleum in Maraza Village, historical mosque Juma and mausoleum of Seven Domes “Yeddi Gumbez” in Shamakha. Then you will arrive in Baku for check in at your hotel. Finally put your feet up and relax.

Day 10 – Baku & Absheron Peninsula
Gear up for a busy day sightseeing across Baku. You will first visit Memory Alley – “Shehidler Khiyabany” –  for a panoramic view of Baku city from the park. Next you will visit Medieval Fortress of Old Baku – Icheri Sheher, Maiden Tower, the Complex of Shirvan Shahs’ Palace as well as  Medieval Caravan Saray. You will also explore Medieval Markets Square, and a handmade carpet workshop. Next you will stop to enjoy a lunch break, before visiting Yanardag and  Temple of Fire Worshippers – Ateshgah.

Day 11 – Gobustan, and Mud Volcanoes
This morning you will check out from hotel and visit Gobustan’s  mud volcanoes. Be amazed as you see these rare volcano spit out cold gooey mud. They are located in the middle of an oily desert and vary in size and shape. Their surface is cracked from the heat and occasionally makes oozing, bubbling or squeaking noises. After this eventful morning, you will feast on lunch. Next you will have some time free time for shopping before you are transferred to Georgia by train.

Day 12 – Departure
Take time to enjoy the final breakfast of your holiday. You will have some free time to enjoy as you wish, before a representative at train station will transfer you directly to Tbilisi airport for departure. As you leave, your mind will be filled with the amazing memories you have just created.
